Malaysia’s labour industry will receive a boost as the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) rolls out support measures to address impact of the global supply crisis.
Human Resources Minister YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishan said this comes following the concerns over job losses with 5,900 Malaysians laid off last month, specially in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur
Strengthening Job Opportunities and Support System
Among important steps includes improvements to Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800) aimed to offer better social protection and easier access to upskill and reskilling program.

The ministry of also stepping up in efforts through nationwide university tours to engage with graduates, and offer guidance and job matching support to ensure young talent is still competitive.
At the MYFutureJobs Premium Career Carnival held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, more than 10,000 job opportunities were available. With salary from RM3,000 to RM16,000. MYFutureJobs overall aims to help 200,000 job seekers to secure employment this year.
Vetri MADANI: Focus on Indian Community Workforce
Along these broader efforts, KESUMA is strengthening initiatives which focuses on empowering the Indian community as well. It was officiated by Dato’ Sri Ramanan in SJKT Vivekananda in Brickfields on 25th April 2026. The programme will have a allocation of RM10 million and aims to benefit 2,000 participants nationwide.

Building Skills for the Future
The initiative focuses on job seekers and those currently employed which offers training in high-demand area like Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, robotics and semiconductors.
Participants were exposed to various government initiatives through agency booths, and gave them a clear pathway towards career growth. With both of the job support and long-term training program, KESUMA approaches resilient and future-ready workforce, to ensure no community is left behind.
