The Higher Education Ministry has allocated RM26 million for the implementation of the Menu Kasih Siswa Programme, which aims to ensure that students in higher education institutions have access to affordable meals on campus.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir stated that this program is designed to alleviate the financial burden students face regarding their cost of living. He noted that the government has increased the funding for the program from RM15 million to RM26 million to enhance its effectiveness.

Datuk Seri Zambry also urged universities not to wait for formal launch events or ministerial visits before implementing the initiative. He encouraged higher education institutions to begin rolling it out immediately so that students can benefit without delay.
The initiative will extend beyond public universities to include private higher education institutions as well. The ministry is engaging with private institutions and student representatives to ensure that food pricing remains fair and affordable across all campuses.
The Menu Kasih Siswa programme helps improve student welfare by ensuring that financial difficulties do not prevent access to basic needs like meals. This government initiative is part of a larger plan to support higher education students and promote their well-being.
