Vijay has created history after his political party secured over 100 seats in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Having launched his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in 2024, this marks an extraordinary rise in just two years of political involvement.
In a stunning debut, Vijay emerged victorious in both Perambur and Trichy East constituencies on Monday, May 4, 2026. However, as per election rules, he is now required to vacate one of the two seats within 14 days. With TVK winning the majority of seats, Vijay is widely expected to take on the role of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Ongoing alliance talks are believed to be aimed at securing the 118-seat mark needed to form a stable government.
