Educational and community welfare continue to remain a important for Perai assemblyman Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu, who has now introduced a free tuition initiative aimed to help students in Perai area to improve their studies and build a strong future.
The programme, called “Our Tuition, Our Perai”, was introduced to SJKT students in the constituency. According to Dato Sundarajoo the initiative is to ensure no child in Perai is left behind when it comes to receiving quality education.

Focus on Bahasa Melayu and English
The tuition classes currently focus on two important subjects, Bahasa Melayu and English for Standard Four, Five and Six students. Dato Sundarajoo explained that many SJKT students struggles mastering Bahasa Melayu, which may result in them having to attend transition classes.
He hopes that the programme will help the students to bridge the gap and also ease the financial challenges faced by parents, especially those from B40 families who may not be able to afford private tuition.

To make sure the programme goes on well and effective, experienced educator Mrs Prema is appointed as a full time teacher for the classes. The classes are fully free of charge and parents are only required to send their children to the tuition sessions.
So far, there are 40 students from two SJKT in Perai have joined the programme, with plans are still on to expand the initiative to more schools in the area.
The centre has also been upgraded to provide a more comfortable, safe and conductive learning environment for students. Apart from education, Dato Sundarajoo also announced free vision screenings and free spectacles will be provided to students who needs it.
