The story of Manisha Jagan Mongan has once more moved the hearts of Malaysians, reminding many about the importance of organ donation. Even after her death, her choice to be an organ donor has saved 11 lives, continuing to inspire countless individuals and raise awareness about the significance of providing others a second chance at life.
Manisha Passed Away At The Age Of 35
In 2023, Manisha, who was merely 35 years old, passed away far too young. During a time of deep sorrow for the family, her family chose to honour her desire to donate her organs and tissues to those in need. This brave choice by her family became a ray of hope for many Malaysians and inspired many to become involved in organ donation nationwide.

Her Organs Helped To Save 11 Lives
After her death, Manisha’s kidneys, liver, and corneas were successfully allocated to patients awaiting transplants. Manisha’s kidneys and liver were transplanted into three individuals who had been on waiting lists, while her corneas and bones were preserved for future recipients.

On May 7, 2026, Manisha’s father, P Jagan Mongan, was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Selangor Health Department. He mentioned that the family is happy in knowing that her final wish had benefited so many lives. He expressed that losing her at such a young age was incredibly painful, but the fact that her organs have saved many others greatly ease their suffering.
They had no doubts about allowing the doctors to harvest the organs right away, as they understood it was her wish. He added that Manisha had always been a person who aided others, making the choice resonate with her true nature.
Manisha’s courageous act inspired many to be organ donors
Dr. Natasha Noh, head of the tissue and organ donation unit at Sungai Buloh Hospital, noted that public interest in organ donation increased following reports detailing how Manisha’s organs were obtained and transplanted after her untimely death. Dr. Natasha remarked that the reaction from Malaysians was unforeseen, as organ donor registrations had historically been rare due to a lack of awareness surrounding the issue.
She stated that the viral story of how Manisha’s organs benefited others shortly after her tragic passing resulted in a sudden rise of organ donor registrations. Manisha’s story emerged again in 2026 and swiftly captured nationwide attention, motivating more individuals to learn more about organ donation.
