Many Malaysian Indian students are going to benefit from major education and digital learning assistance introduced under MITRA, as MADANI Government continues their effort to improve access to higher education and ease financial burdens among lower-income families.
The initiatives highlighted during a event with Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. With allocation for nearly RM18 million, the programmes is focused to help Indian students from B40 and lower M40 families to complete their higher education.
RM10.41 Million for IPT Admission Assistance
Under the Initial IPT Assistance 5.0 for 2025 programme, MITRA allocated RM10.41 Million for students who enters higher education institution nationwide:
So far:
- 4,165 students have been approved and received assistance
- 5,178 students are expected to benefit
- 7,141 application received nationwide

Eligible students received:
- RM2,000 cash assistance for each student
- RM3,000 assistance for students with disabilities (OKU)
This involves both IPTA and IPTS institutions nationwide and focuses on first-year Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree students from B40 indian families.
Device Assistance for Digital Learning
Apart from financial aid, MITRA strengthens digital learning access with the Device Assistance Programme for Malaysian Indian students. RM7.955 Million has been allocated under the initiative with 3,000 students to receive the device.
The program helps students to have better access to digital education, especially now as technology continues to play a important role in education.
Among the highlights is,
- Open to first-year Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree students
- Involves IPTA and IPTS nationwide
- Focused on B40 and lower M40 families
- Recipient List identified with the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT)
- Distribution based on students needs
The latest initiative shows MITRA’s focus on education within the Malaysian Indian community. By providing financial assistance and digital learning support, it clearly shows it is to ensure all students are not left behind.
