A group of students from Sekolah Rintis Bangsa Johor (SRBJ), SMK Seri Kota Puteri 2 in Masai has won the Best Idea Innovation Award at Japan Youth Summit and International STEM Exposure Programme which was in Osaka Kyoiku University, Japan.

The program was 4 days and 12 international people from countries including the United States, China, Canada, and Hong Kong, making the achievement more special for the Johor based team.

Their award-winning project is named ‘Craytion’. It’s an eco-friendly crayon innovation which is created by cooking oil and natural dyes. More than creativity, the project is to support sensory therapy for children with autism while promoting inclusive and sustainable education.

Young Innovators Making Malaysia Proud

Craytion is developed by three form 3 to form 5 students, Farhah Azra Abdul Rahim, Muhammad Darwish Dhani Darmawi and Indian student Shreeniithi. Their contribution played an important role in the success on the international stage.

Guiding the students is Mrs. Yogeshwari Chelliah, whose mentorship and support helped shape the project from idea to award-winning innovation.

Shreeniithi and Yogeshwari’s contribution in this also highlights the growing impact of Malaysian Indian representation in STEM and education, especially on the global stage.

Johor State Education and Information Committee Chairman Aznan Tamin has praised their achievement and said the project highlights creativity, sustainability, and community focused innovation which aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 11 and 12.

According to Aznan, Craytion is more than a school project, its a meaningful message on environmental sustainability, inclusive education and social wellbeing.

The success is supported by several parties including the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ), the Johor state government and Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor (YRZSNJ), where they contributed RM10,000 for training and preparation.

Aznan said the victory is a proof that Johor students are capable to produce innovations with global impact while proudly carrying Malaysia’s name on world stage.
