Weekly KL Festival 2026 Guide Part 2: What To Catch Around KL This Weekend

The fun and exciting events this week continue with more art showcases, theatre performances, workshops, nature activities, and community programmes happening across Downtown KL. If you’re looking for an activity to attend with your friends and family, KL Festival has a list for you.

Yesterday there was part 1, here’s part 2 of the happenings to check out!

1) Plante KL: Whiskers by the Water-KL Otter Walk

This is a guided urban wildlife walk which explores Kuala Lumpur’s growing otter population and river ecosystem recovery.

2) Under the Shadows of Merdeka Photowalk

Led by Azul Adnan and Grace Ho, two photographers, this photowalk is focused on architecture and urban photography around Merdeka 118. People who participate can use cameras and smartphones while learning to capture light, city details and lines.

3) Petal Print Paper

This is an eco-printing workshop which lets participants create postcards using natural dyes, and plants harvested from an urban farm. This will have a farm tour and refreshment.

4) Taman Tugu People Library

For International Day for Biological Diversity, this special People Library session features conservationists and environmental experts to share stories on biodiversity, forest, and marine ecosystems in Malaysia.

5) Launch of The Good List Guide

The launch introduces The Good List, which highlights businesses and experiences focused on sustainability, heritage, and social impact. The initiative encourages responsible tourism and ethical spending as Visit Malaysia 2026.

6) Merdeka 118: Collective Mural Activation

Visitors are invited to help paint a large-scale public mural near Merdeka 118. The community arts project is to celebrate heritage, creativity and public participation.

7) Planet KL: Between Riverbanks & Skyline-The Future of Malaysia’s Otters (Talk)

This is a public talk on otter conservation, river ecosystem and urban biodiversity in Malaysia. Experts from Malaysia Otter Network will share findings and conservation challenges on the species.

8) SUMUD: Existence Is Resistance Workshops

The workshop is a series that has Palestinian embroidery sessions, photography workshops, cooking demonstrations and dabke dance workshops.

9)  Sustain;ed KL Open Day

This is a community event which features screening, sustainable conversations and hands-on upcycling workshops.

10) Untitled

This visual arts exhibition lets visitors interpret artworks without the artist needing to explain or giving context. Audiences can leave written responses beside the artwork.

11) Pak Peng Arcade: Speculative Spaces & Temporality

This program is about the history and transformation of Bangunan Pak Peng in Chinatown.

12) Planet KL: World Otter Day Celebration with Kids at MoSAIC

This is a family friendly event, which includes exhibition, storytelling sessions, workshops, mural painting and live performances centred around otters, rivers and environmental awareness.

13) SUMUD: Existence Is Resistance Film Screening 

The screening has Palestinian stories, resistance, and identity, followed by discussion on cultural resistance and storytelling through art and cinema.

14) SUMUD: Existence Is Resistance Live Events

The live programme includes discussion, poetry, music, dance and multidisciplinary performances by Palestinian and regional artists.

15) I’m OKay, yoU?

This is a theater performance on a young woman with a physical disability and navigates memories, overprotection and self-discovery. The play has a mix of Tamil, Malay and English. It is written and performed by Santhiagu Thiagu, directed by Putrina Rafie and includes team Namme Medai Production.

This is a contemporary dance work which reflects on motherhood, identity, and evolving role of Indian classical dance in modern life, this is performed by January Low.

17) 《有故事的人:娭毑》 The Storyteller: Oi-Jia

This is a solo performance which explores motherhood, memory and generational relationship through stage production.

18) Jo Lixian Sings Summertime Blue

Singer and songwriter Jo Lixian brings her blend of neo soul, R&B and jazz influence with live showcase.

19) Wayang Women Live in Dataran

After a sold-out performance last year, Wayang Women is back with special outdoor performance which has a mix of Wayang Kulit, folklore, humour and contemporary music.
