In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026, Shangri-La KualaLumpur has partnered with Oriental Kopi to present a special culinary showcase that celebrates the heart and soul of Malaysian dining culture. From 3rd to 17th June 2026, guests can indulge in a limited-time menu at the hotel’s Lobby Lounge, where beloved local comfort food is elevated within an elegant five-star hospitality serving.
The collaboration brings together two iconic homegrown names that have each played a role in preserving Malaysia’s rich food heritage. As Malaysia prepares to welcome visitors from around the world for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the partnership aims to introduce both locals and international travellers to authentic flavours deeply rooted in the nation’s kopi culture and everyday dining traditions.
Celebrating Malaysia’s Culinary Heritage
For Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, the collaboration further strengthens its position as the first five-star luxury hotel in Malaysia to be recognised and certified by the Department of National Heritage Malaysia for championing authentic Malaysian Heritage Cuisine in 2025. The recognition reflects the hotel’s continuous efforts in preserving local culinary traditions while presenting them through refined hospitality experiences.
General Manager Daniel Kaeflein shared that the hotel remains committed to creating immersive cultural experiences for guests through meaningful culinary journeys. He noted that the collaboration with Oriental Kopi reflects Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s dedication to bringing Malaysian hospitality and heritage to life in authentic and memorable ways.
Founded by Dato’ Calvin Chan Jian Chern, Oriental Kopi has become one of Malaysia’s most beloved kopitiam-inspired brands, known for preserving nostalgic flavours and familiar dining experiences enjoyed across generations. Together, both brands aim to celebrate not only Malaysia’s iconic dishes and coffee traditions, but also the warmth and connections that define Malaysian dining culture.
Exclusive Malaysian Comfort Dishes
At the heart of the collaboration is the exclusive Signature Curry Laksa Noodle with Lobster, available only at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. Conceptualised through a collaboration between Dato’ Calvin Chan Jian Chern and Executive Chef Eric Fettke, the dish presents an elevated interpretation of the traditional curry laksa, featuring handmade noodles served in a fragrant broth prepared with a blend of eight spices and fresh coconut milk, accompanied by lobster, tofu puffs, fish cakes and eggs.
Guests can also enjoy the classic Curry Laksa Noodle, which stays true to the comforting flavours Malaysians know and love, with its rich coconut-based broth layered with aromatic spices.
Another highlight is Oriental Kopi’s Guinness World Record-winning Signature Nasi Lemak with Ayam Berempah, recognised for achieving the “Most Servings of Nasi Lemak Sold in 8 Hours” with 11,446 packs sold. The dish features fragrant pandan rice paired with Oriental Egg, sambal and flavourful chicken marinated in a blend of eight spices.
The showcase also includes Signature Mee Siam, Butter Kaya Toast, and the brand’s signature Egg Tart made with 128 layers of flaky pastry and a smooth caramelised filling. Completing the experience is Oriental Kopi’s signature coffee blend made from carefully roasted Arabica, Robusta and Liberica beans, delivering the bold and authentic taste of Malaysian-style kopi.
Dato’ Calvin Chan Jian Chern described the collaboration as an opportunity to present Malaysian kopitiam culture within a refined setting while staying true to the nostalgic flavours Malaysians grew up with. He added that partnering with Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur makes the collaboration especially meaningful due to the hotel’s commitment to celebrating Malaysian culinary heritage.
Available daily from 12.00 pm to 3.00 pm at the Lobby Lounge, the limited-time dining experience invites guests to gather over familiar Malaysian flavours in a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. Whether for a leisurely afternoon catch-up, business lunch or casual midday indulgence, the collaboration offers a unique opportunity to experience the richness of Malaysian heritage cuisine through the combined expertise of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Oriental Kopi.
