The efforts to strengthen early childhood education in Tamil schools have received another boost after Dato Seri Sundarajoo Somu inaugurated SJKT Palaniandy Preschool Council on 21st May 2026.

The initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to empower Tamil National Type Schools (SJKT) in Penang by making sure that all students receive strong educational support from the preschool itself. This establishment of preschools in Tamil schools plays a important role in creating early learning spaces that helps children build a educational foundation before moving to primary education.

He highlighted that early childhood education is essential in shaping a kid’s emotional, and social development, and also helps students to build confidence and interest in education from young age. As Chairman of Penang Tamil School Special Committee, Dato Sundarajoo shared that the committee allocates RM2.4 Million annually for infrastructure development across all 28 SJKT schools in Penang.

The allocation will cover educational, and facility improvement including development of preschool projects like the one implemented at SJKT Palaniandy. The preschool development fund for SJKT Palaniandy is fully given through Penang Tamil Schools Committee and part of the efforts to strengthen Tamil school.
The Penang state government is committed to strengthening educational development and in ensuring every child has access to education.
