The appointment comes just months after the release of the Netflix film Made in Korea, starring Priyanka Mohan, which was released on March 12, 2026. The movie follows Shenba, a young Tamil woman whose dream of visiting South Korea takes an unexpected turn when she is in a foreign land. Shenba forms meaningful friendships and embarks on a journey of self-discovery and resilience.

Filmed extensively in South Korea, Made in Korea was praised for showcasing the cultural connections between India and Korea while highlighting themes of friendship, personal growth and new beginnings. Priyanka’s involvement in the film further strengthened her connection with South Korea, making her appointment as Korea Tourism’s Honorary Ambassador a fitting next chapter in her career.
