Malaysia’s K.Letshanaa has been continuing her impressive form this year after securing her first Super 1000 tournament at Indonesia Open in Jakarta yesterday.
Letshanaa won against the world No. 20 Line Kjaersfeldt from Denmark with 21-14, 19-21, 21-13 in the opening round at Istora Senayan Arena. The win is even more special as it’s Letshana’s first victory over the player after losing in the previous two meetings.
Another Strong Result In A Breakthrough Season
The victory is the latest highlight and a breakthrough season for Letshanaa. Earlier this year, Letshanaa reached semi-finals in Indonesia Masters before stepping into quarter-finals of Malaysia Masters. During her match in Kuala Lumpur, she had her biggest win of her career by defeating Japan’s world No.9 Tomoka Miyazaki, her victory against a top 10 player.
She also delivered a impressive game at Singapore Open last week, where she was in a tough game with former Olympic Champion Chen Yu Fei of China.
Letshanaa will now move to the second-round and will be against on of the biggest names in women’s badminton, Akane Yamaguchi from Japan.
Despite the challenge, Letshanaa will enter the match with full confidence after her strong performance in Jakarta. With each tournament, she continues to show consistency, and strengthening her reputation as one of the Malaysia’s most promising badminton players.
