The Ministry of Education received more than 476,000 applications for the 2027 Year One school intake, including over 73,000 applications for early entry.
Speaking after the launch of the International Symposium on Librarianship, Translation and Artificial Intelligence, YB Fadhlina said the number of applications shows the interest among parents who want to enrol their children in school earlier.
According to YB Fadhlina, 73,000 applications were submitted for children currently five years old that’s seeking early admission into Year One at the age of six.

Meanwhile, over 403,000 applications were received for regular six-year-olds. This is an increase compared to previous registrations intake. In March, 351, 789 applications were recorded for the 2027 intake. And 51,457 applications are from five-year-old groups.
The number had already shown strong growth from February, when over 26,000 applications were received.
Classrooms Preparations Underway
YB Fadhlina also said that preparations are still ongoing to ensure all schools are ready to accommodate students. The ministry is continuing efforts to build more classrooms in selected schools, especially in states facing issues related to overcrowding.
This number of applications shows the confidence of people on the education system and demand for school placement. As the government prepares for next year’s intake, the focus now is still on improving access to education.
