Released in March 2025, actor Vikram was last on screens in Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2. Directed by Arun Kumar, who also directed Chiththa (2023) and Sethupathi (2016), the film follows Kaali, a provision shop owner, who leads a peaceful life with his wife and children until his past involvement in a dangerous criminal network catches up with him.

In April this year, the producers of Chiyaan 63 announced that filmmaker Anand Shankar would steer the project. The commencement of production was announced with a look poster featuring Vikram. Anand Shankar’s first collaboration with Vikram was the 2016 hit Iru Mugan. Vikram plays dual roles as hero and villain.

In announcing the film in April, a promotional video introduced Vikram as a chef targeted by a gang. A conversation in voiceover reveals that he is also a gangster.

Riya Shibu, the actor-producer, who became an overnight sensation upon the release of Nivin Pauly’s Sarvam Maya (2025), has also been roped in for Chiyaan 63, marking her Tamil debut alongside Vikram. Interestingly, Shibu had also produced Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 (2025).
On the technical crew, singer and music director Santosh Narayanan is reuniting with Vikram since the 2022 film, Mahaan, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Chiyaan 63 marks the debut collaboration between Vikram and Sathya Jyothi Films, which recently made Mark (2025) and the Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen starrer Thalaivan Thalaivi (2025). Additionally, the crew also includes cinematographer RD Rajasekar ISC, editor Raymond Derrick Crasta, production designer Rajeevan and art director Surya Rajeevan. Reports also suggest legendary actors, MS Bhaskar and Urvashi, are set to join the cast, but the makers have yet to confirm the same.
Under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner, TG Thyagarajan, Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan are producing the film along with G Saravanan and Sai Siddharth serving as producers. Further plot, genre and cast details are eagerly awaited.
