The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has declared that all remittance counters at EPF offices nationwide will cease operations starting 1st July 2026. The move affects only payment counters, while other service counters will continue operations as usual.
What does this mean for members and employers?
They can still seek the EPF branches for other services, but contribution payments will need to be made via alternative channels.
From 1st of July 2026, contribution payments can continue to be made through:
- The KWSP i-Akaun mobile app
- Internet banking platforms
- Bank agent counters
- EPF Self-Service Terminals (SST)
- Mobile KWSP Team and Relationship Advisory (RA) services
According to KWSP, this move is intended to encourage employers to make contribution payments through the i-Akaun (Employer) portal so as to enable payments to be processed more smoothly.
In May 2025, EPF introduced i-Legasi, i-Emas and the Retirement Goal Calculator as part of their efforts to enhance retirement security and financial resilience. In a statement, the chief executive officer had said, “We are evolving to support our members not only in savings, but in making informed decisions to ensure their savings last a lifetime and to leave a legacy for their loved ones.” He asserted that retirement planning must go beyond savings accumulation to focus on adequacy and sustainability.
The EPF is Malaysia’s premier retirement savings fund. Their mission is to help members achieve a comfortable retirement income. Evolving from a transaction-centric organisation into a professional fund management institution, the EPF is a professional governance framework focused on retirement security.
EPF added that the closure of its payment counters will not affect members’ or employers’ ability to make contributions, as various alternative payment techniques remain available.
EPF also remains dedicated to continuously improving its service delivery and ensuring that members and employers are able to make seamless transactions via secure, accessible and efficient platforms.
