As Father’s Day approaches, the Nicol David Organisation (NDO) and CIMB Foundation have launched Bapa Legends, a new community programme designed to support and empower fathers through sports, mental wellbeing and financial literacy.
Found and implemented by Nicol David Organisation, the initiative is to strengthen the important role of fathers play in building healthy and strong families.

Supporting Fathers in Today’s Challenges
Many fathers today face too much pressure as they balance work, finances, family responsibilities and their own wellbeing. Despite playing a important role in their children’s emotional and social development, conversations about fathers mental health often remain limited.
Bapa Legends was created to address the gap by giving a safe and supportive space where fathers can focus on their physical health, emotional wellbeing, and financial knowledge. The programme also highlights the importance of active parenting in creating healthier and more balanced family lives.

A 10-Month Programme
The first group of participants are 40 fathers from the B40 Communities in Bukit Jalil and nearby areas. The programme will be on for 10 months, combining monthly pickleball sessions with educational workshops. Participants will take part in two-hour sessions focusing on mental health, stress management and financial literacy.
Financial literacy workshops will be carried out by Agensi Kausneling & Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) to help participants understand better on money management, financial planning and protection for themselves and their families.

Speaking at the launch, Datuk Nicol David said stronger families begin with stronger communities, and fathers play a key role in building it. She added that Bapa Legends creates a space where fathers feel supported, valued, and encouraged to prioritise their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
Meanwhile, CIMB Foundation Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff said the programme reflects CIMB’s commitment to strengthen communities by empowering fathers as positive role models and helping them build meaningful connections at home.

Looking Ahead
Bapa Legends is part of Nicol David Organisation’s efforts that is ongoing to use sports and positive psychology to improve wellbeing, strengthen communities and empower individuals across Malaysia.
Currently it’s started in Kuala Lumpur, the organization hopes to expand the programme to other states in the coming months, and welcomes support from corporations and partners who share the goal of building stronger families and communities.
