The P.K. Subbaiyah Cup, a football tournament with Tamil school students in Penang, concluded recently with closing ceremony officiated by Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo Somu at Padang Brown, Dato Keramat.

Organised by PIFC, the tournament became a important platform for encouraging sports participation among students from all 28 SJKT schools in Penang. This is the fourth time the competition took place.
Encouraging Student Participation
The tournaments’s highlight was the participation of students in boys and girls categories, showing the organisers commitment to give equal opportunity for all students to showcase their sporting ability and talents.

According to Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo Somu, this type of initiative plays a important role in developing students beyond the classroom. He as the Chairman for Penang Tamil Schools Special Committee, said efforts to promote sports among Tamil school students are still priority.
He said the sports not only contributes to physical fitness but also help students develop important values like discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition.
Building Future Sports Talent
The tournament identifies and supports young sports talent who many go on to represent their schools, communities and even state in the future.

Dato’ Seri Sundarajoo Somu congratulated the teams who played well and encouraged those who did not win to continue striving for improvement. He reminded students that success is not only about trophies, but also the courage to participate, the determination to keep trying and willingness to learn with every experience.
He also appreciated the PIFC, teachers, coaches, parents, volunteers and students who contributed to this year’s tournament. Their efforts together helped P.K Subbaiyah Cup to continue.
