In a significant milestone, a brand-new album titled “PADU” was unveiled at an exclusive preview event held at Mantra Bar in Kuala Lumpur, specifically for invitees only. The gathering brought together 100 of the nation’s most influential voices from music, media, and the creative industries, who were the first to experience one of the year’s most anticipated independent album releases.
Supported by MyCreative Ventures under the Ministry of Communications Malaysia, and presented as part of the Malaysia MADANI initiative, PADU represents a new wave of locally-driven creative movements where music, culture, and community intersect.
What is PADU?
The album’s name is derived from “perpaduan,” the Malay word for unity, reflecting the cross-genre and cross-language collaborations at its core.
It also embraces the Malaysian slang “padu,” which describes something impressive or really cool.
The project began in a way true to independent records, starting as an idea born in a bedroom, without any guarantees, studio support, or label backing, before finally securing the support that made it come to life. This underdog origin is a fundamental aspect of what PADU represents.

PADU Brings Together Homegrown Talents
The album “PADU” is spearheaded by DJ Pri2 and Poovilashini (Poovi), and it represents a collaborative hip-hop and alternative project centered on storytelling, cultural identity, and the evolution of Malaysia’s independent music scene. The bilingual album features both Malay and English lyrics and includes five songs along with two music videos.
It showcases a variety of homegrown talents, including Kidd Santhe, K-Town Clan, Airliftz, Balan Kash, Syntax, Besanth, Adam Imanullah, Axtin, and Shane Kennedy.
During the launch event, guests had the opportunity to preview each track of the album through a series of curated playback sessions, each accompanied by original visuals. The event was hosted by Vikarworld, a well-known Malaysian influencer and content creator.
Between songs, Pri2, who produced the entire project, provided insights into the creative process behind each track, discussing the initial ideas, the beats, the studio sessions, and the collaborations that led to the final version. This format transformed a typical listening session into a live exploration of the album’s creation.
The album and its two accompanying music videos will release soon across all major streaming platforms.
