Three Indian Students Among 18 Top STPM 2025 Achievers

The top 18 performing students in the 2025 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) exam will receive undergraduate scholarship from public universities beginning this year.

Education Minister YB Fadhlina Sidek announced the scholarship will be given in form of tuition fee waivers, allowing outstanding students to continue their studies at degree level with greater financial support.

The initiative shows the commitment of public universities to recognise academic excellence and encourage more students to pursue higher education.

Outstanding Students Recognised

Among the 18 students, there wer three Indian students who excelled in their own categories. Nanthini Ramu from SMK Ambrose, Ayer Tawar, who was recognised under Special Educational Needs (CBPK) category. Even with spasticity, Nanthini got excellent results and was selected among the nation’s best STPM students.

Bavani Saravanan, is another student who received it. From SMK Methodist (ACS), Sitiawan, Perak. Bavani, whose field of study is Sejarah (History) got CGPA of 3.92 and was recognised for her excellent results in Bahasa Tamil.

Jeremiah Selva is another student from Kolej Tingkatan Enam Haji Zainul Abidin, Georgetown, Penang, who achieved impressive Band 5+ in MUET.

All the 18 students will receive a RM1,000 in cash, a plaque and a certificate of recognition for their achievement.

STPM Results Show Improvement

According to Professor Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff (Malaysian Examinations Council chairman), 1,336 candidates have received a perfect CGPA of 4.0, an increase of 70 students compared to last year.

The national CGPA increased from 2.85 in 2024 to 2.88 in 2025, making it the highest average recorded for STPM. 38,128 students or 99.96 per cent of those who sat for the exam, qualified for STPM certificate.

YB Fadhlina said the improvement of results is also by the many efforts taken to strengthen the Form Six education system, including the expansion of Form Six colleges, financial assistance given for students and introduction of STPM “patching” system.

These initiative together and the dedication of teachers helped more students achieve success and continue their educational journey at the university level.
