Malaysian squash player Ameeshenraj Chandaran emerged as one of the country’s standout athletes by helping Malaysia secure a title at the Asian Doubles Squash Championships 2026. The championships took place in Kuching, Sarawak, from June 18 to June 21, 2026.
Ameeshenraj Competed in Two Categories
Mixed Doubles
Ameeshenraj participated in the Mixed Doubles category alongside Rachel Arnold. They delivered an outstanding performance, ultimately winning the mixed doubles final against their compatriots, fifth seeds Syafiq Kamal and Ainaa Amani, with scores of 6-11, 11-7, and 11-9.
In the semi-finals, Ameeshenraj and Rachel faced Hong Kong’s sixth seeds, Yee Lam Tse and Lai Cheuk Lam, and won with scores of 11-5, 6-11, and 11-9. Syafiq and Ainaa also achieved an upset victory over India’s second seeds in their semi-final match.
Men’s Doubles
In the Men’s Doubles category, the Indian pair of Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthikumar were crowned champions after delivering an excellent performance throughout the tournament. The Pakistani pair of Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman secured the runner-up position, while the Malaysian duo of Duncan Lee and Sanjay Jeeva finished in third place. Ameeshenraj Chandaran and Joachim Chuan placed fourth.
Malaysia Secured Several Titles
Additionally, Ainaa Amani and Yee Xin Ying fulfilled expectations by defeating Hong Kong’s third seeds, Nga Ching Cheng and Heylie Fung, in the women’s doubles final with scores of 11-6 and 11-9. In the semi-finals, the Malaysian pair overcame India’s Joshna Chinnappa and Rathika Seelan with scores of 11-9 and 11-7.
In the Mixed Doubles, apart from Ameeshenraj and Rachel, the national pair of Mohammad Syafiq Kamal and Ainaa Amani finished in second place.
