Most children under the age of three build their childhood through play, learning new words, and exploring the world around them. However, a toddler from Bengaluru, India, has captured everyone’s attention with a remarkable feat: deadlifting 20 kilograms.

Radhika Gadiya, two years and eight months old, recently participated in the deadlift category at the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) Karnataka State Championship 2026 and won a gold medal. Weighing just 17 kilograms, she successfully lifted a weight heavier than her own body mass, leaving spectators amazed and earning widespread attention online.

Following in Her Sister’s Footsteps

Radhika’s journey into powerlifting began at home. Her father, Sanjay Gadiya, is a professional weightlifter and a black-belt karate practitioner, while her older sister, Aarya, has already made headlines for her own achievements in strength sports. Radhika became interested in lifting weights after watching Aarya train and compete. Inspired by her sister’s accomplishments, Radhika expressed a desire to try lifting weights herself.

Initially dismissing the idea due to her young age, Sanjay was surprised when Radhika managed to lift a 10-kilogram barbell. She later progressed to lifting 12 kilograms, convincing her father that she possessed both natural strength and determination.

Strength Runs in the Family

The Gadiya family’s passion for strength sports has played a significant role in Radhika’s development. Radhika’s sister Aarya, aged six, became a household name in October 2025 after appearing on the reality TV show “India’s Got Talent,” where she pulled a 2,000-kilogram SUV. Guided by their father, Sanjay Gadiya, Aarya’s achievements inspired Radhika to embark on her own journey in powerlifting.

Sanjay believes his daughters have inherited a natural athletic ability and notes that both enjoy training. He describes their exercise sessions as a combination of structured activities and play, designed to keep them engaged while developing strength and coordination.

Despite differing opinions about youth weightlifting, Radhika’s achievement is extraordinary. At an age when most children are only beginning to develop basic motor skills, she has already become a state-level champion and an internet sensation.

Her story highlights the importance of family influence, early exposure to sports, and exceptional talent. As videos of her lifts continue to circulate online, Radhika has emerged as one of India’s youngest sporting sensations, inspiring both admiration and debate in equal measure.
