Malaysia and India has reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen defense ties in the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting on Military Cooperation (SCMC) in New Delhi.
The meeting had the Indian Defence Ministry Join Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad and Malaysian Armed Forces Defence Operations and Training Assistant Chief of Staff Major General Amer Mahmud Abdul Rahman.
In a statement by the Indian High Commission, Malaysia and India have looked into their ongoing defense cooperation and welcomed the progress made in military exchange, bilateral exercises, training programmes, staff talks and capacity-building initiatives.

Both country has agreed to strengthen their partnership by expanding professional exchanges, increasing participation in military training programmes and enhancing cooperation in the defense industry, defense technology, cyber security, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
They have also ensured their commitment to maintain peace, stability, security and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific through cooperation under ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) framework.
At the same time, the 11th Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy Staff Talks also took place in New Delhi. The discussion were led by Indian Navy Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula and Royal Malaysian Navy Assistant Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Datuk Mohd Fadzli Kamal Mohd Mohaldin. They spoke on strengthening naval cooperation, enhancing bilateral engagements and promoting maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.

The SCMC is the main military consultation platform between Malaysia and India that gives a space for future discussions at the defense secretary level through the India-Malaysia Defence Cooperation Meeting.
During in the visit, the Malaysian delegation met India’s Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, visited DPSU Bhawan at the World Trade Centre in New Delhi, and paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial. The recent discussion shows the shared commitment of both the country to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen regional security through closer military and maritime collaboration.
