Martial arts have become a popular choice for families looking to enrol their children in classes such as Silambam, Taekwondo, and Karate. Movies often depict the significance of martial arts, and the new film Blast, starring Arjun, Abhirami, and Preity Mukundhan, emphasises the necessity for women to learn martial arts.

You Are Your Own Savior

In the film, there’s a powerful scene where Preity Mukundhan’s character, Nila, faces harassment from her manager in a work cab. Rather than panicking, she confidently shows that the manager has picked the wrong person to mess with.

In a world where we constantly hear about harassment cases, it is disheartening to feel powerless. This highlights the importance of self-defence; learning martial arts can empower women to stand up for themselves and challenge those who underestimate them.

Ultimately, this narrative not only promotes awareness around harassment but also encourages resilience and empowerment among women in all areas of life.

Helping Those in Need

While it’s essential to be able to defend ourselves when no one else can help, stepping in to assist others takes true courage. In Blast, Nila intervenes when a middle-aged woman faces land issues and is being blackmailed by gangsters. Using her Karate skills, Nila fights off the criminals, demonstrating that her martial arts training not only helps her but also enables her to protect others in distress.

Protecting Family at All Costs

In the film, Abhirami and Arjun portray a married couple who both learned karate in their youth. Abhirami’s character initially comes across as soft-spoken, often reminding her daughter to stay gentle and avoid trouble. However, when her daughter and family are threatened by ruthless gangsters, she doesn’t hesitate to showcase her karate skills. This reveals that being gentle does not equate to being fearful.

Building Confidence in the Face of Danger

One of the crucial climax scenes in Blast takes place in a pharmacy, where Nila confronts a dangerous man who threatens her for her gold chain. Even with a knife at her neck, she displays no fear, which underscores her confidence in her ability to protect herself with her Karate training. Her ability to remain calm under such circumstances shows not only her physical strength but also her mental resolve.
