Directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Lokesh Kanagaraj in his debut as a lead actor alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, the upcoming Tamil movie DC is one of the most anticipated action films of 2026. The title stands for Devadas and Chandra, the names of the lead characters. Known for his raw and violent filmmaking style in movies like Captain Miller and Rocky, Arun Matheswaran brings the same gritty intensity to DC. Produced by Sun Pictures, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film’s early teasers and trailers have created huge buzz among fans for their stylish visuals, brutal action sequences, and powerful background score.
What makes DC even more exciting is the curiosity surrounding Lokesh Kanagaraj stepping in front of the camera after becoming one of Tamil cinema’s biggest directors through films like Vikram and Leo. The movie reportedly blends romance, revenge, and violent action in a dark cinematic world. Social media discussions have especially praised the trailer’s cinematography, Anirudh’s intense music, and the film’s stylish presentation, with many fans already calling it a potential blockbuster. DC is expected to release in theatres at the end of this month.
Jailer 2
The sequel to Jailer, which emerged as not only the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023, but also the second highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, amassing around Rs 650 crore at the worldwide box office. Rajinikanth played a retired jailer chasing an idol smuggler who’s threatening his family.
Ramya Krishnan will reprise her role of Rajinikanth’s wife. Yogi Babu will also reprise his role, while the new additions to the cast include SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, and Jatin Sarna. The first part also stood out for its A-list cameos from Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff. The sequel is expected to have cameos from not only Mohanlal, but also Vijay Sethupathi, Mithun Chakraborty, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan.
Vishwanath & Sons
After the success of Suriya’s Karuppu, all the ‘anbaana fans’ are on the actor’s next film, Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. Anticipation has been naturally high as Suriya will be seen in a romantic drama after a long time.
Vishwanath & Sons tells the story of Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath (a take on his character from Ghajini), an ace pistol shooter in his 40s, holding fort to retain his agility and focus. When Maddy (Mamitha Baiju), a young woman in her 20s arrives into his life, all hell breaks loose. Maddy falls head over heels in love with Sanjay despite his pushback, citing their age gap. The film is expected to revolve around their love story and how it changes their lives.
Besides Suriya and Mamitha Biju, the film also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Nasser, Sudha, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, George Maryan, Hyper Aadhi, Srija Ravi, Sarvadaman Banerjee, Mathew Varghese, Kalyani Natarajan, Karate Karthik, and Master Charvik.
Sigma
In a recent interview, director Jason Sanjay has shared an emotional statement about ‘Sigma,’ his debut film as a director. The much-awaited project is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31. The film has already garnered significant buzz, not only because it marks Jason Sanjay’s entry into filmmaking but also because he is the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay. Expectations are high, and the audience can’t wait to see what the talented young filmmaker has to offer in his debut movie.
The makers have described Sigma as a “high-stakes heist” film. Jason, who has written and directed the film, recently said his debut feature brings together action, comedy, treasure hunt and heist elements to create a highly energetic cinematic experience. The teaser presents Sundeep Kishan as a man on a quest in Jason Sanjay’s first outing as director.
Alongside Sundeep Kishan, the film stars Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Magalakshmi, Sheela Rajkumar, Kamalesh and Kiran Konda.
Sathyan Savitri
Keerthy Suresh, last seen in Revolver Rita (2025), is working with Mysskin on an upcoming film helmed by Praveen S Vijay. The film’s makers unveiled the title poster of the film on April 30, featuring Keerthy Suresh. The film has been titled Sathyavan Savithiri.
The film was previously described as an intense courtroom drama. The title poster features Keerthy Suresh amidst a group of lawyers. Seen wearing pink in an ocean of black coats, and she has adorned sindoor on her forehead. Notably, Keerthy Suresh previously performed as actor Savitri in her biopic, Nadigaiyar Thilagam (2018).
The original lore of Savitri tells the story of a devoted married woman who uses her wit to bring her husband, Sathyavan, back to life after confronting Yama, the God of death. Mysskin is expected to play a lawyer in the film.
Sathyavan Savithiri also stars Charukesh, Bala Saravanan and Shilpa Manjunath. Details regarding the plot and the rest of the cast members have been kept under wraps.
