Sequels always come with expectations, especially when the first film has already given audiences a story and characters they enjoyed. Gatta Kushthi 2, released in cinemas on 3rd July 2026, brings Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi back as Veera and Keerthi.

Directed by Chella Ayyavu, the sequel is a story of Veera and Keerthi is at a new stage of their lives. Keerthi continues her journey in kushthi, while Veera takes care of their daughter, Mathi Malar. However, their different hopes for their daughter, with misunderstandings and people interfering in their marriage, soon creates problems between them. The film stars Vishnu Vishal, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Zara Zyanna, Karunas, Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, Lizzie Antony, Mokksha, Karunakaran, Ramya Krishnan, and Yogi Babu in special appearances.

There is no doubt that Gatta Kushthi 2 has it’s flaws. The story is similar to the first, the plot is predictable and several scenes could have been avoided. However, between the comedy and family drama, the film still has a few good messages.

Here are 5 messages from Gatta Kushthi 2 that stood out:

1) Veera’s Growth as a Husband

In the first film, Veera struggles with his male ego and takes time to accept Keerti as a kushti fighter. But in Gatta Kushthi 2, it shows a very different side of him. Veera fully supports his wife’s career, takes care of their home and daughter, and even stands up for the women around him. Veera’s change from the first film is one of the best parts of the sequel as it shows how a partner’s support can make a difference.

2)Taking Care of a Home Is a Responsibility Too

In Gatta Kushthi 2, Veera becomes a full-time househusband. Although the people around him often make fun of him for it, the film shows that cooking, cleaning, raising a child and managing a home are not easy tasks. These are responsibilities that are often overlooked, and is believed its only a women’s job to do so. The film shows that there is nothing wrong with a husband taking on this role while supporting his wife’s career.

3) A Child’s Dream Can Be Different From Their Parents

Veera and Keerthi have their own ideas on what is good for their daughter, Mathi. But Mathi’s interest are different from what is expected. The film shows while parents may have good intentions on what’s good for the children’s future, it is also important to listen to what the child wants. Sometimes, supporting them means allowing them to chose a different path.

4) Sports Can Teach More Than Physical Strength

Through Keerthi, in both films shows that kushthi gave her more physical strength. It has taught her discipline, confidence, and independence. The film also encourages women and young girls to learn a sport or physical activity that can help them become more confident, and prepare them to protect themselves when needed.

5) Communication Matters in a Marriage

Just like the first film, communication is still a problem between the couple. One who does not explain the situation properly, while another who makes decisions without thinking through. Things becomes even bad when people around add their own versions of what happened. Through disagreements the film shows how important it is to speak openly and listen to the other one.

Is Gatta Kushthi 2 Worth Watching?

Gatta Kushthi 2 has a few scenes that feel unnecessary and could have been avoided. Some parts of the story are not explained clearly, leaving certain moments feeling incomplete. A few characters could have had a stronger role, such as the villain role, who could have had a bigger impact on the film’s story.

The main plot feels similar to the first one, with Veera and Keerthi having misunderstandings again. This makes the plot predictable and feels repeated. However, the comedy is where the film works the best. Karunas, Kaali Venkat, Munishkanth, and Lizzie Antony’s funniest moments carried the film. Special appearances also adds to the entertainment.

Gatta Kushthi 2 may not be a completely new story and not every scene or character works. But despite the flaws, the film does have good message and plenty of funny moments. If you are looking for a good entertaining film to watch with your friends, this sequel can be watched.
