A Form Five student who died after falling from an apartment building in Selayang has left her family devastated, with her mother calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading up to the tragedy. The incident occurred at about 7.30pm on Thursday. The student, identified as Krishnaveni Ravi, was a student at St. Mary’s Secondary School.
According to her mother, Adhilakshmi, Krishnaveni returned home from school at around 2pm in an emotional state and was seen crying. She said her daughter spent a long time on the phone and continued to appear distressed throughout the afternoon. Wanting to give her space, Adhilakshmi told her they could talk once she had calmed down.

At around 4pm, Krishnaveni reportedly gathered the birthday gifts she had received from her friends into two bags and went downstairs to burn them before returning home. Her mother said she remained on the phone and continued crying after coming back. Later, at about 6pm, Krishnaveni spoke to her younger brother, asking him to take good care of their mother and telling him he could keep some of her belongings.
At approximately 7.30pm, Krishnaveni left the apartment. Her mother said she first attempted to climb over a wall but was unsuccessful. She then climbed onto a laundry basket before the incident occurred. Despite Adhilakshmi’s desperate attempts to stop her by calling out, she was unable to prevent the tragedy.
Adhilakshmi believes her daughter may have had a disagreement with friends at school, although she stressed that the actual cause of the incident remains unknown. She has urged the relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly to determine what happened and provide answers to the family.
A widowed mother, Adhilakshmi is now mourning the loss of her daughter while caring for her three remaining children, including an elder son and two younger siblings of the deceased.
