The renowned Kortumalai Pillaiyar Temple, also referred to as the Court Hill Sri Ganesar Temple, is situated on Jalan Pudu Lama in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This beloved spiritual landmark is set to undergo significant renovations to enhance its sacred environment.
The announcement was made by Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. R. Nadarajah, who confirmed that the Vinayagar Moolasthanam, which is Lord Ganesha’s Sanctum, will be given a thoughtful makeover in anticipation of the upcoming Maha Kumbabhishegam. This highly significant ceremony is expected to take place just ahead of this year’s Vinayagar Chathurthi festival, which is celebrated grandly by devotees.

Despite the commencement of renovations, the temple remains accessible to devotees, who can continue their prayers and worship without interruption. In front of the temple, a new idol of Lord Ganesha, intricately crafted from atthi maram (figwood), has been installed at the entrance. This addition allows devotees to pay their respects and seek blessings from Lord Ganesha while the renovations are underway, maintaining a sense of continuity in their spiritual practices.
The Kortumalai Pillaiyar Temple holds a prominent place in the hearts of many devotees, drawing visitors regularly who seek solace and blessings within its sacred walls. As the renovations progress, details regarding the maha kumbabhishegam, a grand ritual that holds immense spiritual significance, will be communicated by the temple president in the following days.
Additionally, on July 12, 2026, the temple witnessed a momentous event known as the Balaalaya Vaibhavam, which was met with enthusiasm and devotion from the community. Many devotees gathered to participate in the ritual, contributing to the temple’s vibrant spiritual energy and reinforcing the strong bonds of faith within the congregation. The ongoing developments within the temple promise to deepen the spiritual experience for all who visit.
