MITRA Strengthens Education Through Kalvi MADANI and Celik MADANI Programmes

The MITRA is strengthening more education opportunities for the Indian community through Kalvi MADANI and Celik MADANI programmes, benefiting thousands of students from preschool and primary school in Malaysia.

The initiative believes that quality education is the key to create a knowledgeable, skilled and confident generation. As the programme’s saying goes, “Today’s Education, Tomorrow’s Excellence, the Nation’s Strength.” 

Kalvi MADANI Benefits Over 10,000 SJKT Students

Under KALVI MADANI, a total of 10,410 students from 315 SJKT schools across 9 states have received educational support. Classes under the programme will start on the 2nd week of July.

Selangor has received the highest allocation with 78 schools and 3,340 students benefiting from RM2,506,240.

As shown below, these are the states and numbers of schools, students and allocations given:

  • Johor: 41 schools, 1710 students, and RM 1,296,680
  • Perak: 62 schools, 1440 students, RM 1,134,440 
  • Negeri Sembilan: 34 schools, 1040 students, RM 798, 840
  • Kedah: 31 schools, 900 students, RM694,300
  • Penang: 26 schools, 840 students, RM642,440
  • Kuala Lumpur: 15 schools, 540 students, RM 409,740
  • Pahang: 16 schools, 360 students, RM 284,560
  • Melaka: 12 schools, 240 students, RM192, 240

Overall, it supports 315 SJKT schools, 10,410 students, 9 states and RM 7,959,480 total funds.

Kalvi MADANI provides access to quality education in important subjects like BM, English, Science and Maths. Through the additional support, the programme hopes to help students improve academic performance while preparing them for opportunities in the future. 

Celik MADANI For Early Childhood Education

Celik MADANI is a preschool programme, which is made for young children to start strong before entering primary school. The programme will help 3,612 children from 162 preschools (Tadika) nationwide with total allocation of RM 8,874,259.60.

Selangor received the highest allocation here as well. It benefited 1,266 children from 45 preschool with RM3,161,630 allocated.

  • Perak: 760 childrens, 34 preschool, RM 1,865,034
  • Kedah: 548 childrens, 24 preschool, RM 1,346,558
  • Negeri Sembilan: 442 childrens, 22 preschool, RM 1,072,515.60
  • Johor: 246 childrens, 15 preschool, RM 613,870
  • Melaka: 153 childrens, 8 preschool, RM 366,660
  • Penang: 107 childrens, 7 preschool, RM 256,292
  • Pahang: 68 childrens, 6 preschool, RM 145,040
  • Kuala Lumpur: 22 childrens, 1 preschool, RM 55,660

The families who signed up for the programme will receive a monthly preschool subsidy of up to RM150, along with RM80 per month for breakfast. Total it brings RM230 for each eligible child.

Kalvi MADANI and Celik MADANI together, shows MITRA’s commitment to support education for every child. Through these, many children in Malaysia are expected to receive the support they need to learn, grow and build a strong future.
