On July 19, 2026, the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Launch Ceremony 2026 (Majlis Peluncuran Bulan Kebangsaan & Kibar Jalur Gemilang 2026) was launched at the Sultan Azlan Shah Ministry of Health Malaysia Training Institute (ILKKM SAS) in Ipoh, Perak. The launch was officiated by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Communications through the Department of Information (JAPEN) in collaboration with the Perak State Government. It featured a vibrant cultural performance showcasing traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Bornean gong drumming by the students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The celebration also included a patriotic choir performance by ILKKM SAS trainees alongside artists from JAPEN’S PENTARAMA programme.
Also in attendance were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad; Minister of Communications and Chairman of the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations Main Committee, Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil; Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang; members of the Cabinet; Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah; as well as senior officials from the Federal and Perak State Governments.
Aku Berjanji – Official Theme Song
The launch of the official theme song for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day took place in the ceremony. The song titled Aku Berjanji was performed by Faizal Tahir. The song carries a message of togetherness, unity and patriotism, encouraging Malaysians to uphold the nation’s sovereignty through a shared love for the country.
Patriot Merdeka Run
On the morning of July 19, 2026, before the ceremony, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, flagged off more than 2,000 participants in the Patriot Merdeka Run. The Kita MADANI Programme was also held, featuring various activities including the JAPEN Nationhood Exhibition, Wellness on Wheels (WOW), a Dental Clinic, and NADI on Wheels (NOW). The programme was organised through a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and the Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan.
The launch of MPBKKJG 2026 officially marks the beginning of the 2026 National Month celebrations. In conjunction with this, Malaysians are encouraged to demonstrate their patriotism by proudly flying the Jalur Gemilang at their homes and premises, while supporting the various patriotic programmes organised by ministries, government departments, agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the country.
The Ministry of Communications calls on all Malaysians to actively participate in the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations by playing the official theme song and using the HKHM 2026 Promotional Kit in programmes, activities and across digital platforms.
