In a significant proud moment, Superintendent Saravanan Shanmuggam has been appointed as the new Taiping District Police Chief (Ketua Polis Daerah Taiping) with the acting rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
His appointment will take effect on 1 September 2026, as part of the Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) latest administrative reshuffle involving 26 senior police officers.
Saravanan’s appointment comes following the promotion of Taiping’s current police chief, ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail, who has been transferred to Bukit Aman. The reshuffle also saw Perlis Police Chief Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim promoted as Deputy Director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, reflecting PDRM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership across the force.
Saravanan Shanmuggam’s elevation to lead one of Perak’s key police districts is a proud milestone.
