Malaysians have been urged to play their part in maintaining cleanliness and preserving public spaces during the upcoming National Day celebration, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Hannah Yeoh.
Speaking at the Program MADANI Kita Bersama Komuniti WP Putrajaya today, Hannah stressed that cleanliness should not be viewed as the sole responsibility of government agencies or cleaning personnel, but as a shared duty among members of the community.
She said that while preparations and cleaning facilities will be provided by the relevant authorities, the public must also practise civic responsibility by disposing of rubbish properly and respecting the environment, especially with thousands of visitors expected to gather in Putrajaya for the National Day celebrations.
Hannah highlighted that a clean and well-maintained environment reflects the values of a responsible society. She added that national celebrations are not only about showing patriotism but also about demonstrating discipline, unity and care for the community.
She expressed hope that Malaysians would work together to ensure Putrajaya remains clean, safe and welcoming throughout the celebrations, in line with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises community participation and shared responsibility.
