Merchantrade Money introduced support for Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet, allowing it’s Merchantrade Money Visa Prepaid cardholders to make contactless payments directly from their smartphones.
With the launch, Merchantrade Money becomes first homegrown non-bank e–money issuer in Malaysia to offer native tap-to-pay transaction through both Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet.
The new feature allows users to add their Merchantrade Money Visa Prepaid cards to digital wallet and make payments at more than 100 million Visa contactless terminals worldwide, without needing to use their physical cards.
More Convenient for Daily Use and Travel
The latest update is designed to make everyday spending and overseas travel more convenient. Users can now pay at contactless Visa terminals in Malaysia and Abroad including public transport systems like London Underground and Singapore MRT, as well as retail outlets and convenience stores.
Payments are completed in a second, proving a faster and smoother checkout experience. For overseas, transactions are deducted directly from the users pre-converted multi-currency wallet, allowing them to avoid foreign transaction fee mark-ups when paying from supported foreign currency balances.
Secure Payments through Visa Token Service
To ensure secure transactions, the service is powered by the Visa Token Service (VTS), which replaces sensitive card information with a secure digital token during every payment. This means card details will not be exposed during transactions
Samsung Wallet has Knox-level hardware security for contactless payments and supported wearable devices, while Google Wallet offers flexibility for payments across mobile apps, websites and physical stores.
Faster, card-free Experience
Merchantrade Money Executive Vice President Cindy Loo said the new feature was introduced as a response to customer needs. She said customers are now using their smartphones as their preferred payment methods, making support for Google Wallet and Samsung Wallet for a natural next step.
Easy to Activate
Cardholders can add their Merchantrade Money Visa Prepaid card through Merchantrade Money app using the in-app provisioning feature or link it directly through the Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet applications. With the latest enhancement, Merchantrade Money provides a faster, safer, and more convenient payment experience while giving users greater flexibility for local spending and international travel.
