Sri Murugan Centre organised its 32nd annual Kalvi Yathirai at the Batu Caves on August 1, 2026, bringing together thousands of students and parents in a meaningful journey that combined spirituality, motivation and the importance of education.
The annual programme aims to nurture spiritual values among students while encouraging them to remain committed to their academic journey. The participation of thousands of students and parents reflected the community’s dedication towards instilling strong moral values and a positive learning mindset among the younger generation.
The Kalvi Yathirai, which has been organised by Sri Murugan Centre for the past 32 years, highlights the organisation’s long-standing commitment to supporting Indian students through accessible and quality education. For 42 years, Sri Murugan Centre has played an important role in providing affordable educational support to students across the community.
The event began with a special homam ritual, followed by the distribution of holy water to the students. The participants then carried the holy water to the top of Batu Caves, where they performed abhishegam as part of the spiritual observance.
Following the religious ceremony, students took part in a motivational session that emphasised the importance of discipline, perseverance and dedication towards their studies. The session encouraged students to pursue academic excellence while maintaining strong values and character.
Through the annual Kalvi Yathirai, Sri Murugan Centre continues to demonstrate its commitment towards the Indian community by promoting the belief that education combined with spiritual values can help shape responsible, capable and successful individuals who are prepared to face the challenges of society.
