Discussion are ongoing regarding the proposed construction of an additional classroom at SJKT Rawang, with the Ministry of Education (MOE), parents and school representatives working together to find the best solutions for students.

The proposed project involves building a modular classroom using the Industrialised Building System (IBS) concept on part of the school’s playground.

Recently, Director of Education Malaysia Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad visited SJKT Rawang to inspect the proposed site. He was accompanied by Selangor Education Department Director Datin Wan Nor Ashikin Abu Kassim and other official from the Ministry of Education, the Selangor Education Department, the Gombak District Education Office and the Public Works Department (JKR).

During the visit, discussions focused on the sustainability of the site, infrastructure needs, projects coordination, staff safety and the development of sustainable school facilities to provide a safer and more conductive learning environment.

Parent Raise Concerns Over Project Location

The proposed classroom has received mixed views from parent and the school community. Following a discussion with parents, it was clarified that they are not against the construction of additional classrooms, but the concerned about the proposed location on the existing school playground.

According to parents, the playground is an important space used for Physical Education classes, co-curricular activities and student’s overall development.

Instead, they proposed that the new classroom be built on the site of the school’s old classroom block, which has already been damaged.

Discussion Held to Reach a Consensus

A management session involving the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), Alumni Association, community representatives and school management was held to discuss the differing views.

JKR officials also attended the meeting to help figure out possible solutions. Following the discussions, representatives from the PIBG and parent meet with officials from the District Education Office (PPD), schools management and the Selangor Education Department.

During the meeting a request was made to temporarily postpone the project to allow the PIBG chairman time to discuss the issue further with all the parents and come up with a common agreement. All parties agreed that a decision should be made as soon as possible in the best interest of the students.
