A staff member at Penang International Airport has won praise online after helping two siblings return home during a family emergency, despite a last-minute booking mistake that could have left them stranded.
The heartwarming stroy was shared on Threads by Esther (@esther_rachel.sj) who said she and her younger brother had rushed to book a flight from Penang to Sarawak after learning that their older brother had been involved in a serious accident.

With only 5 hours before departure, the siblings quickly booked their tickets. However when they arrive at the airport, they found out that they had accidentally selected 31st July instead of 24th July.
Esther said they only realized the mistake around 1:50PM, after a police officer pointed it out during the identity check. Their boarding time was supposed to be at 2:15PM. Panicked, the siblings rushed to the airline counter, hoping there was still a chance to get home.
Going the Extra Mile
At the counter, they were assisted by Ms Suzana Joyse A/P Richard Nelson, who immediately looked into the situation after learning about the family emergency.

Despite the long queue and limited time before boarding, Suzana checked for available seats and managed to change their existing tickets to the same day’s flight. Instead of purchasing new tickets, which would have costed more than RM1,000 per person, the siblings only had to pay the fare difference.
Esther thanked Suzana for her kindness, compassion and quick action saying her help allowed them to return home in time to be with their injured brother.
A Reminder that Kindness Still Exists
Speaking to World of Buzz, Esther said she hopes Suzana’s story reaches more people. She said people often come across negative stories online, while acts of kindness rarely receive the recognition they deserve.
Ester added that she hopes Suzana’s actions serve as a reminder that there are still many kind hearted people willing to help others, especially during life’s most difficult moment.
