Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Chinese and Tamil schools are set to receive a funding boost, with government assistance to be approved within the next two weeks.

The Prime Minister said the announcement would be made at a separate event to ensure each stream of education received the recognition and attention it deserved.

He emphasised that the Madani government remained committed to distributing assistance fairly across all educational institutions, including Islamic schools.

“The assistance is distributed in a balanced and equitable manner so that every child receives the support they deserve.

“As for the assistance approved for Chinese and Tamil schools, we will hold a separate event within the next two weeks to make the announcement,” he said when addressing the “Gelombang Madani” carnival at the Masjid Tanah sports complex on Friday (Aug 7).

Anwar noted that the government would continue strengthening support for Islamic educational institutions, including pondok schools, tahfiz centres and Sekolah Agama Rakyat, which had previously received less attention.

“The announcement is being made separately to ensure every educational institution receives fair recognition and equal attention.

“The government will continue to enhance support for Islamic educational institutions,” he said.

He reiterated that the government’s approach was to ensure education funding was distributed in a balanced and inclusive manner, regardless of the type of institution, so that every community would benefit from the nation’s development.
