Some love stories is about finding the right person. Others are about, missed chances, and all the things we wish we had said earlier.
Idhayam Murali falls into the second category. The Tamil romantic drama, directed by Aakash Baskaran, stars Atharvaa Murali in the lead alongside Kayadu Lohar, and Preity Mukhundhan. The film also stars Natty Subramaniam, S.Thaman, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Angeline B, Jonita Gandhi, while Fahadh Faasil and Malavika Mohanan makes a special appearance.

Idhayam Murali was released in theaters on 10th July 2026, and shows the various stages of Idhaya (Atharvaa Murali) life and the many times love comes his way. From childhood crushes to relationships that could have become something more, Idhaya often finds himself holding back when it matters the most. After weeks of being released on theatres, the film is now available to stream on Netflix from 7th August 2026.

While Idhayam Murali is filled with romance, friendship and humour, it also leaves behind a few simple lessons about love.
1) Tell Someone How You Feel When You’ve Got the Chance
This is probably the biggest lessons from Idhaya’s story. Again and again, he develop feelings for someone but struggles to tell the how he feels.

His relationship with Amudha becomes the clearest example. When she left after finishing their studies, Idhaya goes all the way to the train with her but still struggled could not confess his feelings. Years later, he learns that Amudha had loved him too.
Sometimes, rejection or acceptance is not the most important part. Simply tellin someone how you feel can give you the relief of knowing you tried. It is often better than spending years wondering, “What if?”.
2) Timing Really Does Matter in Love
Idhaya meets the right people at different stages of his life but is often too late to act on his feelings.
Years later, when he meets Amudha again, she confesses she had feelings for him and says she is happily married and has childrens. When he reconnects with Samantha years later, his life had already moved to another direction.

The film reminds us that love is not only about meeting the right person. Sometimes, it is also about meeting them at the right time and being brave enough to do something about it.
3) Do Not Let Fear Make Your Decisions
Idhaya spends most of his life being afraid of what might happen if he confesses his feelings. He had many questions in him, but by trying so hard to avoid getting hurt, he ends up living with even more regret.

Love always comes with some level of risk. You may not get the answer you want, but fear should not be the reason you never try.
4) Be Honest with the Person You Love
When Idhaya meets Samantha again, he finally gets a chance with her. However, he hides the fact he is already engaged. She later finds out the truth, leaving her hurt and angry.

Even if Idhaya had good intentions, hiding something so important only made the situation worse. Love needs honesty, especially when another person’s feelings are involved.
5) Love is Also About Choosing What Makes You Happy
Towards the end of the film, Idhaya is prepared to marry Adhithi even though his heart is somewhere else. He finally starts questioning whether going ahead with the marriage is the right decision.

Love should not come from pressure, guilt, or the fear of disappointing others. Choosing a partner is one of the biggest decisions in life, and both people deserve to be with someone who truly wants to be there.
6) Love Needs Clarity, Not Just Time
Lado and Sachin’s relationship shows that spending years being with someone does not always mean the relationship will lead to marriage. Lado gets deeply hurt when Sachin, even after being with her for so long decides to marry someone else, when she has not moved on.

Her anger comes from feeling that the years they shared could have meant something more. Their story shows why couples need to be clear about what they want from a relationship instead of simply assuming both people are moving to the same future.
Love isn’t just about how long you have been together. Its about communication, commitment and knowing if both people wants the same thing.
Sometimes, You Just Have to Say It
At it’s heart, Idhayam Murali is a story about a man who spends years struggling to say three simply words. From his childhood crush, Idhaya’s journey shows how easily love can turn into regret when feelings are left unspoken.

The film does not promise that the confession will lead to a happy ending, but it gives a reminder that when you truly love someone, say it while you still have the chance.
