The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) has distributed RM6.7 million for three major initiatives, Kalvi MADANI, Uyarvu MADANI and Dharma MADANI. The amount allocated for these initiatives is intended to strengthen the socio-economic well-being of the Indian community.
Minister of Human Resources, Dato’ Seri R. Ramanan said the initiatives are designed to provide direct support to students, entrepreneurs and Hindu places of worship across the country, reflecting the MADANI government’s continued efforts to uplift the community.

Kalvi MADANI
Kalvi MADANI is a tuition programme where 2,343 SPM and STPM students from seven states will benefit from free tuition classes which will be conducted at 28 tuition centres. The five-month programme, running from August to December, received an allocation of RM2.63 million. This initiative is aimed at improving students’ academic performance while reducing the financial burden on families.

Uyarvu MADANI
The Uyarvu MADANI initiative will provide more than RM3.05 million in grants to 128 Indian entrepreneurs under its first series of 2026. The grants cover micro, growth and high-impact categories, helping entrepreneurs strengthen their operations, improve competitiveness, and expand their businesses.
Dharma MADANI
Dharma MADANI is a initiative created to support Hindu places of worship across the country. Under series Four, 52 Hindu places of worship have received a total of RM1.04 million, while another 324 temples are expected to receive assistance soon. This brings the total number of beneficiaries under the series to 676 Hindu places of worship.

Beyond MITRA’s grants, Indian entrepreneurs can also seek business assistance from agencies including SME Bank, Bank Rakyat and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, providing additional avenues for community members to grow their businesses.
The three initiatives reflect a broader approach towards community development, supporting education, strengthening entrepreneurship and preserving places of worship while creating opportunities for the Indian community to progress together.
