Basis Bay has officially ushered its ‘Saraswathy English Challenge’ into an exciting new phase, expanding its mission to encourage English-speaking skills among Tamil school students. Launched in 2023, the speaking competition has rapidly evolved to offer broader educational support and global opportunities.
Building on the success of last year’s free online classes, the company has introduced further educational initiatives. Key developments include:
Dedicated YouTube Channel: A newly launched platform features exclusive training videos designed to help Standard 4 students prepare for their Matrix Exams.
Global Competition Sponsorship: Basis Bay awarded cash incentives to four outstanding students from SJK(T) Bandar Mahkota Cheras, celebrating their qualification for the prestigious HIPPO global English competition finals in Italy.
Basis Bay Chairman, Dato’ Praba Thiagarajah, stressed the initiative’s core philosophy, noting that English fluency is a crucial tool for unlocking talent and enabling students to excel on the global stage.
Key executives echoed this vision during recent press addresses. Head of Marketing and Communications, Amanda Handriani, outlined the project’s strategic importance, while CSR Expert Sivaneswaran Ramalingam discussed its broader social impact and student skill development. Additionally, Selvamalar Selvaraju, Head of Quality and Sustainability, confirmed that details for next year’s competition will be rolled out shortly.
The enhanced program has been met with widespread community support. Parents and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members who participated in recent events eagerly shared their positive experiences. By expanding global educational opportunities, Basis Bay’s initiatives continue to spark fresh inspiration and ambition among Tamil school students.
