Twenty-one-year-old Sharannya Dato Kishor Kumar has made Malaysia proud after winning gold in the Figure Skating Artistic Freestyle category at the Skate Asia 2026 international figure skating competition.
Held at Sunway Pyramid Ice from August 6 to 16, the competition brought together skaters from across the region. Sarannya’s achievement highlights her years of dedication to the sport, having started learning ice skating at just five years old.

Beyond competing, Sharannya is also actively involved in training others in ice skating, sharing her experience and skills with aspiring skaters. Although she pursues skating on a part-time basis, she remains determined to overcome challenges and establish herself in the sport.
Following her latest victory, Sharannya is already looking ahead to next year’s national ice skating competition. She has begun preparing early, reflecting her commitment to continue improving and reaching greater heights in the sport.
Her journey serves as an inspiration to young Malaysians, showing that passion, perseverance and consistent effort can open the way to success, even when pursuing a sport on a part-time basis.
