Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah continued their World Championships campaign with a comfortable victory to book their place in the third round in New Delhi, India.
The world No.5 pair won against Turkiye’s Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci, ranked world No.22, with 21-16, 21-13 in just 34 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Pearly and Thinaah, strongly took control from the second-round. They will next face Indonesia’s world No.13 pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma-Meilysa Trias Puspitasari for a place in the quarter finals.
The pair are hoping for another strong run at the World Championships after finishing as runners-up at last year’s edition in Pairs.
Thinaah said their preparations have improved after they were finally able to train together more consistently over the past two weeks. She added that their movement, communication and trust on court were heading in a positive direction, although there were some areas they needed to improve.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s campaign in the men’s singles came to an end after Leong Jun Hao lost to Li Shi Feng China’s world No.9. other men’s singles representative, Justin Hoh had lost to Taiwan’s Lin Chun Yi.

In the women’s singles, K.Letshanaa also lost to China’s third seed Wang Zhi Yi in 42 minutes with 16-21, 9-21. Mixed doubles, husband and wife pair Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie advanced to the last 16. They won against the United States Chen Zhi Yi-Francesca Corbett 21-15, 21-16. They will face China’s eighth seeds Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi for a place in the quarter finals.
