The Visit Malaysia 2026 promotional video celebrates the country’s culture, diversity and travel experiences, earning international recognition at the PATA Gold Awards in Kuching.
Tourism Malaysia has received another international recognition after it’s Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign video, ‘Surreal Experiences,” won a PATA Gold Award 2026.
The award was presented at the PATA Gold Awards 2026 Gala Dinner, held in conjunction with the PATA Travel Mart (PTM) 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak. Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Director General (Promotions), Mohd Akbal Setia, received the award on behalf of the organization.
‘Surreal Experiences,” won under the Marketing-Travel Video category. The three-minute promotional video showcases Malaysia’s tourism attractions, culture, and authentic travel experiences while highlighting the country’s unity, warmth and diversity.
The video has an uplifting soundtrack by Malaysian singer Ernie Zakri, with lyrics presented in different languages of the Malaysia’s multiracial communities. The music and visuals come together to highlight the harmony and cultural identity of the country.
Since it’s launch in 2025, ‘Surreal Experiences,” has been featured at international travel shows, exhibitions, roadshows, and sales missions around the world as part of efforts to promote Malaysia as a global travel destination. The recognition comes as Malaysia continues to record strong tourism numbers. The country welcomed 21.2 million visitors in the first half of 2026, up 2.5% from 20.6 million during the same period in 2025.
The PATA Gold Awards recognizes outstanding work in tourism marketing, sustainability and social responsibility. This year’s winners are selected by an independent panel of 25 international judges, with 27 awards given along with Grand Title Winners.
PTM 2026, also brought together tourism organizations and industry players to build new partnerships and expand their reach across the Asia-Pacific region. 6 organizations from the PATA Malaysia Chapter participated as Malaysian sellers at the event.
