The Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) is continuing its efforts to enliven the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM 2026) celebrations through the PENTARAMA Merdeka@HOHO programme, bringing live cultural and musical performances to several popular locations across Kuala Lumpur.
Held in collaboration with the city’s KL Hop-On Hop-Off (KL HOHO) double-decker bus concept, the programme aims to engage more than 4,000 members of the public through two series of activities featuring live performances by PENTARAMA cultural artists and musicians.
The first series, held on Aug 22, began at SOGO Kuala Lumpur, before making its way to the Petronas Twin Towers and concluding at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The second series is scheduled for Sept 12, starting at Dataran Merdeka, followed by Sungei Wang Plaza and ending at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
Besides the performances, the public was also given Jalur Gemilang flags as part of JAPEN’s 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) initiative, which encourages Malaysians to display the national flag at their homes.
First introduced in 2024, PENTARAMA Merdeka@HOHO continues this year as one of the programmes held in conjunction with HKHM 2026, carrying messages of patriotism, togetherness and unity to the public.
JAPEN Director-General Erwin Khairul Ahmad was also present at the programme.
