Malaysians Urged To Postpone Travel To Three Southern Thai Provinces Amid Security Concerns

Malaysians have been advised to postpone non-essential travel to three southern provinces in Thailand following a series of bomb blasts and acts of sabotage reported across the region.

The affected provinces are Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, which are located near the Malaysia-Thailand border. More than 50 blasts and acts of sabotage were reported across the three provinces on Saturday night, raising concerns over the safety of travellers in the affected areas.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat has advised Malaysians to postpone non-essential travel to the three provinces following the attacks. He said the advice was issued as a precautionary measure amid the heightened security situation in the southern Thai provinces, which are located close to Kelantan and are frequently visited by Malaysians.

The latest incidents come amid renewed violence in southern Thailand, a region that has experienced a long-running insurgency. The conflict, which has claimed more than 7,800 lives since 2004, has been largely centred in Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.

Malaysians who are already in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant, avoid locations with heightened security concerns and follow instructions issued by local authorities. The latest advice does not amount to a ban on travel to Thailand. Instead, Malaysians are urged to prioritise their safety and reconsider non-essential trips to Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala until the security situation improves.

Malaysians travelling to or currently residing in the affected areas are also encouraged to stay updated through official channels and remain alert to any changes in the local security situation.
