Tamil cinema has given us many stories about love and marriage, but Pyaar Prema Kalyanam takes the familiar idea and turns around. Released directly on Netflix on 21st August 2026, the Tamil romantic comedy is directed by Elan, who also makes his acting debut as the male lead, with Saanve Megghana. The film also stars, Radikaa Sarathkumar, M.S.Bhaskar, Elango Kumaravel, Yogi Babu, Geetha Kailasam, and Senthil, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The story is about Elan, a carefree young man who returns home after losing his job in Dubai and soon falls in love with Pavi, a confident social media influencer. The two get married, but things become unexpected when Pavi refuses to leave her family home after the wedding. Instead, Elan agrees to move in with his in-laws and become a househusband. The film has a fun mix of family drama, household problems and culture clashes, and comedy.
The performances make this unusual family film even more enjoyable. Elan fits well into the role of a clueless and pampered young man who slowly learns responsibility, while Saanve brings confidence and energy to Pavi. Their chemistry keeps the film warm even when the couple faces problems. Radikaa Sarathkumar especially plays a very entertaining role as Pavi’s mother. Cooking, cleaning, managing a home and adjusting to another family may look simple from the outside, but the film shows how much effort goes into these everyday duties. Through comedy, Elan slowly understands something many women experience after marriage, running a home is also a responsibility and it deserves to be respected.
3) Equality Means Giving Each Other the Same Choices
Pavi is independent, outspoken and serious about keeping her identity even after getting married. Elan, on the other hand, has to learn how to live in a relationship where he is not automatically the person making every decision.
