Since the cast announcement of the upcoming Nayanthara-Kavin starrer, Hi, audiences and filmgoers have been speculating that the film will showcase a love story featuring a significant age gap between the two leads.
As Nayanthara is 41 and Kavin is 36, audiences are fuelling speculations that the film will revolve around Kavin falling in love with an older woman. While the recently released trailer did not hint at the same, the doubt alone remains in the minds of the audience. Now, actor Kavin has put a full stop to it once and for all.
In a recent interview, the actor was asked about whether the film depicts an age-gap romance theme. “No, no. I would like to stop you right there. This is a very simple, ordinary love story. The love story is between two families. When two families are involved, there will obviously be some conflict between them, right?,” Kavin clarified, even as director Vishnu Edavan quickly added, “There is a gap, but it is not an age gap.”
Moreover, responding to questions in regards to the film releasing around the same time as Vishwanath and Sons and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, both revolving around age-gap love stories, he continued, “None of us, neither our team nor theirs, knew that we would be coming along with Vishwanath and Sons. Because we started this two years ago.”
Hi marks the directorial debut of Vishnu Edavan. The film also stars late filmmaker Bhagyaraj, veteran actors Prabhu and Radikaa Sarathkumar in pivotal roles. The star cast is rounded out by VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Aadhithya Kadhir, Kureshi, Fepsi Vijayan, Renji Panicker, Kaviya Arivumani, and Mirchy Kemy.
Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara’s Rowdy Pictures and SS Lalit Kumar’s Seven Screen Studio are producing Hi. In addition to Jen Martin, cinematographer Rajesh Shukla, editor Philomin Raj, and art directors Kannan S and Sekar B.
The film is all set to release in theatres on August 28.
