Several Malaysian Indians were among the 1,328 recipients recognized with state awards in conjunction with the 77th birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam.
Among them was Datuk Narendran Maniam, Chief Executive Officer of Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), who received the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (D.P.S.M). The award carries the title of Datuk. IWK congratulated Narendran on the recognition and celebrated the achievement with it’s employees.
High Court Judge Datuk Suria Kumar A/L Durairaj Johnson Paul was among the recipients. He was awarded the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (D.M.S.M) which also carries the title of Datuk.
Meanwhile, TamilSelvi Vishnuthevan was given the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (P.J.K) in recognition of her service and contributions. Another notable recipients was Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M.Kumar, who received the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (D.C.S.M), carrying the Datuk Wira title.
Over 1,300 Recipients Honoured
A total of 1,328 individuals received awards during this year’s celebration. Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek led the list of recipients and was awarded the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (D.G.S.M) which carries the title of Datuk Seri.
Others who received the same honour are Chief Justice of Malaya Datuk Seri Hashim Hamzah, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, RMAF chief Gen Tan Sri Muhamad Norazlan Aris, Petronas Downstream executive president and CEO Datuk Seri Sazali Hamzah, and Pesaka president Datuk Seri Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
In total, 56 people received the D.C.S.M while 14 received the D.M.S.M and 189 received the D.P.S.M. Another 5 individuals were appointed Justices of the Peace, while 106 received the Darjah Seri Melaka.
Other honors included the Bintang Cemerlang Melaka for 151 recipients, Bintang Khidmat Terpuji for 244, Pingat Jasa Kebaktian for 386, Pingat Bakti Masyarakat for 161, and Pingat Khidmat Lama for 5 recipients.
The Melaka state government said the honours reflects the state’s appreciation for individuals who contributed through their service and works in different fields, including efforts towards the development and well-being of Melaka.
