A new chapter is about to begin for Sharvina, who will continue her studies in the Bachelors of Laws programme at University Malaya (UM) next month.
Coming from a humble family, Sharvina is the youngest child and the only daughter in her family. Despite the financial challenges at home, she worked hard throughout her education and achieved excellent results in both SPM and matriculation, eventually earning a place at one of Malaysia’s leading universities.
Her mother earns a living by selling cendol by the roadside, making an average of around RM100 in sales each day, with about RM50 in daily profit. Despite the small income, she continues working hard to support her children and their future.
Sharvina’s father, works as a Grab driver to help provide for the family. He went through heart bypass surgery last year, and continues to face health problems, but still works to support his family.
A Laptop for Her Next Chapter
Ahead of Sharvina’s journey to UM, YB Lingesh R stepped in the provide her with a laptop to support her studies. For a university student, especially one studying law, having access to a computer will be important for assignments, research and other academic work.
In his Facebook post, Lingesh said that while a laptop may appear to be a small contribution, it can mean much more to a student from a family with limited financial resources. He described it as a form of support and trust that could become part of Sharvina’s journey towards a better future.
He also encouraged Sharvina to continue pursuing her dreams and to use the sacrifices made by her parents as motivation to keep moving forward.
Sharvina’s journey is also a reminder that financial challenges do not have to decide how far a student can go. With her next chapter at Universiti Malaya about to begin, she now has the opportunity to continue building towards her dream while making her parents proud.
