Parameswari Manohran has been recognized as the Negeri Sembilan Women Icon 2026/2027 for her achievements, leadership and contributions to the society.
She is also known as the first Indian woman franchisor in Malaysia, marking an important achievement in her journey as an entrepreneur. Her work covered both entrepreneurship and education while her efforts have also been more than her professional career.
Over the years, Parameswari has been in charity initiatives, corporate social responsibilities (CSR) programmes and community support efforts, helping those in need and giving back to society.
Her latest recognition places her among the women celebrated under the 2026/2027 State Iconic Women Awards, an initiative that highlights women who made contributions that are meaningful while creating opportunities and inspiring others. A total of 26 recipients were announced for the 2026/2027 State Iconic Women Awards during a press conference held at the ANGKASA Auditorium.
The recipients were recognized under 4 categories, State Iconic Woman, State Young Iconic Woman, State Waja Iconic Woman and State Inspirational Iconic Woman. The announcement was made as the Malaysia Iconic Women Awards Gala 2026/2027 approaches in October 2026.
Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Lim Hui Ying who officiated the press conference, highlighted the importance of stronger cooperation between the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the private sector and society in empowering women.
She said such partnership could create more opportunities for women to succeed and encourage more women to take on leadership roles that can help shape Malaysia’s future.
Lim also noted that recognition such as the Malaysian Iconic Women Awards goes more than celebrating an individuals success. It provides a space to highlight women who contribute to society while helping create opportunities for others.
The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) will continue it’s initiatives under the National Women’s Policy and Women’s Development Action Plan 2025-2030, with focus area including women’s economic empowerment, leadership, safety and well-being.
For Parameswari, the Negeri Sembilan recognition is another milestone to her journey built around entrepreneurship, education, and community service, while serving as an example of what women can achieve through determination and leadership.
