A statue in Tapah Road, Perak, has earned a place in the Malaysia Book of Records for it’s impressive Arumugam, or six-faced Lord Murugan statue.
Standing at 9.01 metres tall, the statue was officially recognized as the “Tallest Arumugam (Six-Faced) Murugan Statue” in Malaysia. The recognition adds a new religious landmark to Perak while highlighting a form of Lord Murugan that is less commonly seen on such a large scale.
The towering statue shows Lord Murugan in his six-faced form, seated on a peacock and surrounded by a large display of peacock features. At about three storeys high, the colourful statue now stands as a permanent landmark at the temple.
The Malaysian Book of Records certificate was presented during a ceremony held at the temple, with members of the temple committee, devotees and representatives from the organization present to mark the achievement.
The ceremony also had traditional prayers and rituals with devotees gathered at the temple to celebrate the special occasion.
Apart from setting a national record, the statue holds religious and cultural meaning for the Hindu community. It’s presence gives devotees another place to gather for worship while also introducing visitors to the Arumugam form of Lord murugan.
With it’s 9.01-metre statue now officially organized, the Tapah Road temple has added a unique Murugan landmark to Perak’s religious landscape.
